One of the most up and coming of the seven Canary islands is the island of Fuerteventura. The island is very popular attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.
A beach lovers paradise, Fuerteventura is also the second largest of the Canaries next to Tenerife. Boasting an all year round sunny climate, reaching the mid seventies in the winter months and topping the 90′s in the summer months, Fuerteventura is a must see for everyone.
On the island there are two main holiday resorts for the English. The busier of the two is Corralejo which is situated on the North coast. The quieter of the two is Caleta de Fuste which is located on the east coast, conveniently only a 10 minute drive from the airport of Fuerteventura.
Caleta de Fuste offers visitors an abundance if bars and restaurants offering cuisines from all over the globe. Bars are also in vast quantity and there are also a couple of nightclubs that stay open until the early hours should you fancy a late night!
The beach is man made and is a safe haven for young children to swim whilst mum and dad take some relaxing time sunbathing on the beach. The adjacent harbour offers a wide range of boat trips and other water sports and the famous ‘floating shop’ offers some lovely Fuerteventura souvenirs to take home and an opportunity to feed the fish.
Caleta de Fuste (or as its now often known El Castillo) was developed with children in mind so makes a fantastic holiday destination for couples with young children. There are a number of play parks situated around the resort and archery, tennis, mini golf, bowling and a sand school available in the resort as well.
A great day out for both adults and children alike is the new Water Park in the north. The zoo and cactus gardens in the south likewise make a great day out for all the family. If you like to see the history of the island then take a trip inland and visit one of the many museums available.
If you are a golfer then two Golf courses can be found on the outskirts of Caleta. Villas are also available to rent on the Golf Course although the majority of accommodation in the resort is generally self catering apartments.
For both families and couples alike, Caleta de Fuste makes a great holiday destination at any time of the year and provides a wide range of things to do for people of all ages.
